Red Sea Holidays

The Challenge

As post-pandemic travel demand surged back to life, Red Sea Holidays — a trusted name in Egyptian and Red Sea escapes — faced a new kind of challenge.

The brand had strong name recognition and loyal repeat customers, but digital growth had hit a ceiling. Most online bookings were still coming via OTAs (Online Travel Agents), which meant high commission costs and limited direct relationships with travellers.

They needed to shift the balance — to drive direct bookings through their own website, build brand equity online, and re-engage audiences through social channels that inspired wanderlust, not just transactions.

However, the travel marketing landscape in 2024 was evolving quickly. Search intent had become fragmented, paid competition had intensified, and the way people discovered destinations was changing — increasingly influenced by short-form video and AI-powered search discovery.

Our brief:

Design a full-funnel acquisition strategy that connected paid search intent with social storytelling — and made direct bookings the #1 revenue driver.

Our Approach

We started with a foundational insight: in travel, people don’t just search for holidays — they search for feelings.

So, our strategy needed to bridge the rational (search intent, pricing, convenience) and the emotional (sunsets, sand, and escapism).

We re-engineered Red Sea Holidays’ digital ecosystem across paid social, PPC, and AI search — ensuring every click, view, and impression guided potential travellers closer to booking their dream escape.

1. Data-Driven PPC: Capturing Demand at the Source

We rebuilt Red Sea Holidays’ entire PPC account structure from the ground up — grouping campaigns around destination + intent combinations.

Instead of generic keyword sets, we targeted specific, high-value phrases like:

• “Luxury Egypt resorts”
• “Family holidays to Hurghada”
• “All-inclusive Red Sea holidays”
• “Best time to visit Sharm El Sheikh”

This allowed us to match ads to where the traveller was in the buying journey — from dream phase to deal phase.

Ad copy emphasised both value (“save 20% on direct bookings”) and trust (“ATOL-protected, 4.8★ rated”). Dynamic Search Ads were layered in to capture emerging seasonal queries and trending destinations.

This precision targeting improved CTR by 36%, CPC dropped 23%, and overall CPA fell 32% year-on-year.

2. Paid Social: Turning Inspiration Into Action

While search captured existing intent, social had to create it.

We produced a series of short-form video ads and Reels, shot on-location across Egypt — from Hurghada’s coral-blue coastline to the golden deserts of Luxor.

Each creative followed a “What a day in Hurghada looks like” narrative — short, cinematic, and effortlessly shareable.

We partnered with travel creators and UGC specialists to ensure content felt real, not overly produced. The tone was relaxed and immersive: morning swims, local markets, sunset dinners — moments that made the destination feel attainable and alive.

We structured campaigns into a multi-tier funnel:

• Awareness: Lifestyle-led TikToks and Reels showcasing real travellers and experiences.
• Consideration: Carousel ads with resort highlights and family packages.
• Conversion: Dynamic ads retargeting visitors from PPC and email lists with live offers.

The performance uplift was immediate. Engagement on Meta grew by 240%, and TikTok — which previously had no active presence — hit 2,000 followers within three months, fuelled entirely by authentic short-form content and organic discovery.

TikTok also drove significant referral traffic to site, with click-through rates averaging 1.9× higher than previous paid social benchmarks.

3. AI Search Optimisation: Future-Proofing Discovery

To complement paid acquisition, we optimised Red Sea Holidays’ website for the new era of AI-assisted search (Google SGE).

We added structured data, conversational FAQs, and entity-based content tailored to how users ask travel questions — e.g.,

“What are the best family-friendly resorts in Hurghada?”
“Is Egypt safe for solo travellers?”

These optimisations positioned Red Sea Holidays in AI-rich snippets and SGE panels, improving organic discoverability and building long-term visibility without reliance on paid alone.

4. Full-Funnel Retargeting: From Dream to Booking

Finally, we connected the dots between PPC and Paid Social with a shared remarketing funnel.

High-intent audiences from search were dynamically synced into Meta, where they saw creative ads featuring limited-time deals, reviews, and video testimonials.

By aligning rational intent from Google with emotional proof from social, we shortened the path to purchase and boosted conversion rates across channels.
