The Challenge

Natural Health Market is a long-standing UK retailer specialising in natural supplements, organic powders, and wellness essentials. Known for integrity and customer loyalty, the brand had built solid sales through Amazon and its Shopify store — but its growth curve was flattening.

By early 2024, the team saw an opportunity in TikTok Shop, the platform redefining how younger audiences discover and buy health products. Yet, launching successfully on TikTok Shop demanded more than uploading product listings — it required storytelling at scroll speed.

The brand faced three core challenges:

1. Low Awareness: TikTok users weren’t yet familiar with the brand, despite strong reviews elsewhere.
2. Creative Fit: Traditional e-commerce imagery and tone didn’t translate to TikTok’s casual, personality-driven environment.
3. Sales Infrastructure: The team needed an always-on content engine capable of turning creator engagement into consistent conversions — compliantly, and fast.

Our Approach

Hummingbird developed a go-to-market blueprint that united platform education, creative testing, and performance scaling. The guiding principle: authenticity first, optimisation second.

1. TikTok Shop Launch & Creative Infrastructure

We started by restructuring the brand’s TikTok presence for commerce:

• Created optimised product listings with SEO-rich titles and benefit-led copy.
• Designed native video thumbnails and cover imagery aligned with TikTok’s UX.
• Implemented Google Adromeda-style creative testing — building rapid cycles of short-form content variations (different hooks, intros, and CTAs) to measure engagement and purchase intent.

This systematic testing allowed us to quickly identify the winning formula: relatable creators + simple education + proof of use.

2. Creator-Led Storytelling

Instead of polished ad shoots, we partnered with a network of micro-creators — everyday wellness advocates with loyal, niche audiences.

Creators were briefed to film “in-real-life” moments rather than scripted spots: morning smoothie routines, post-workout recovery tips, or supplement shelf tours.

Each creative was boosted through Spark Ads, leveraging organic engagement signals to drive TikTok Shop conversions. We continuously optimised creator content via Adromeda’s iterative structure, turning high-performing videos into scalable paid variants within 72 hours.

3. Paid + Organic Integration

To amplify momentum, we built a dual-track content rhythm:

• Organic Cadence: 3–4 posts per week focusing on authenticity — “how-to” clips, duets, and trend adaptations aligned with wellness hashtags.
• Paid Cadence: Always-on Spark Ads retargeting viewers who engaged with videos or added products to cart but didn’t complete checkout.

We also synced TikTok data with email automation to capture and re-engage warm audiences, creating a 360° conversion loop.

4. Live Shopping & Community Growth

To deepen engagement, we launched a series of TikTok Live Shopping sessions hosted by creators and in-house experts.

Each live combined education (“what magnesium does for sleep”) with timed discounts and direct product links. These sessions achieved engagement rates 3× higher than static ads and became a recurring sales driver.
